About Us

Dr. Ross Lirtzman established Veterinary Surgical Specialists of Scottsdale in 2004 and Animal Specialty Group of Scottsdale in 2010. Arizona Canine Orthopedics & Sports Medicine (ACOSM) was created in 2012 and has achieved a superior reputation among pet owners and veterinary professionals alike.

We have three, academically-trained and experienced board-certified surgeons, including Drs. Lirtzman, Trumpatori and Petrovsky and the support of an outstanding team including friendly office staff, gentle veterinary assistants, and highly skilled vet techs.

Located in Scottsdale, AZ, we’re proud to serve our local community, central Arizona and the southwestern region of the United States. We’re grateful for the clients and patients who travel to us from out of state.

Whether you're visiting or bringing your pet for an appointment, you can stay connected within our comfortable WiFi-connected reception area and private family waiting room. 

We're proud to offer a solution called WatchDog™, which enables owners to virtually stay with pets while undergoing surgery. We've equipped each operating room with a live, real-time webcam. Consultation appointments give pet owners ample time to ask questions, and your surgeon will provide thoughtful evidence-based answers. The Big Day

The day will come when the surgeon says, "Your pet has fully healed!" You'll eagerly drive home, thrilled to set them free in the yard.
