Dr. Ross Lirtzman established Veterinary Surgical Specialists of Scottsdale in 2004 and Animal Specialty Group of Scottsdale in 2010. Arizona Canine Orthopedics & Sports Medicine (ACOSM) was created in 2012 and has achieved a superior reputation among pet owners and veterinary professionals alike.
We have three, academically-trained and experienced board-certified surgeons, including Drs. Lirtzman, Trumpatori and Petrovsky and the support of an outstanding team including friendly office staff, gentle veterinary assistants, and highly skilled vet techs.
Located in Scottsdale, AZ, we’re proud to serve our local community, central Arizona and the southwestern region of the United States. We’re grateful for the clients and patients who travel to us from out of state.
Surgeons and pet owners have the same goals - to see companion animals jumping, playing, running, and living their best lives. When pets are happy, so are their people, and it's that simple.
Our Facility
The ACOSM atmosphere reduces stress and maximizes comfort for you and your pet. Our waiting areas, treatment rooms, imaging, diagnostics, and operating rooms rival some human practices and surgery centers.
Whether you're visiting or bringing your pet for an appointment, you can stay connected within our comfortable WiFi-connected reception area and private family waiting room.
We're proud to offer a solution called WatchDog™, which enables owners to virtually stay with pets while undergoing surgery. We've equipped each operating room with a live, real-time webcam. Watch your pet's surgery from our comfortable, private consultation suite. Unable to stay? No problem. Simply log in using your password and view from anywhere using a computer, cell phone, or tablet. Learn more about WatchDog™.
We Care About You, Too!
Whether your dog is a worker, an athlete, or a champion at relaxing in the sunshine, we'll do our best to get them back to doing things they love.
You know your pet better than anyone. We're happy when pet owners want to share in decision-making. We vow to treat you with honesty, kindness, and respect. Consultation appointments give pet owners ample time to ask questions, and your surgeon will provide thoughtful evidence-based answers. Our goal is to turn confusion into confidence so you can feel good about the decisions you make for your pet.
No matter whom you meet in our facility, know that we're pet lovers, too! While your furry friend is in our care, know that we'll treat them with the same gentleness and love we give to our pets.
The Big Day
The day will come when the surgeon says, "Your pet has fully healed!" You'll eagerly drive home, thrilled to set them free in the yard. You've been waiting for the moment when you could encourage them to run for the first time. "Go ahead, buddy – PLAY!" The twinkle in their eyes will return, and in a flash, they're running with ease. These magical moments bring tears to dog owners' eyes because it's a proud moment when you'll see proof of how well you've done for your pet, and you'll know you did a super job with their recovery!
